As an environmentally concerned business we realise that It is easy to get seduced by the well-known ‘5Rs’, as illustrated in the triangle diagram. The big catch is the final action, RECYCLE!

At Polar Thermal our contention is that we should concentrate on REUSE!

That is why we suggest our re-usable, insulated thermal packaging is better for the environment, with RECYCLING as the last resort!

Over their life cycle, reusable packaging has lower greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) compared to disposable alternatives, even if these are recyclable.   Recycling is not so great however, breaking down our waste to create something else with recycled materials, requires a lot of energy. What’s more, is if we simply recycle everything, we are likely using partial new resources each time we buy that item again. In other words, it’s better than sending things to the landfill, but recycling should hardly be our first thought on helping the environment.!

Here at Polar Thermal, as an ISO14001 Company, all our employees undergo environmental awareness training.  So, we live by the motto Reduce- Reuse – Repurpose – Recycle in every aspect of our business. 

Reduce: Polar Thermal’s Insulated packaging can keep perishable items at a consistent temperature, reducing the risk of spoilage and wasted product.

Reuse: Polar Thermal’s re-usable insulated solutions can last for over 1000 uses. 

Repurpose: Polar thermal will take back any insulated packaging system that has be purchased from us, upcycling the raw materials. Indeed, we have designed novel products using repurposed materials

Recycle: Polar Thermal source recycled sustainable raw materials from UK manufacturers, such as Dacron fibre which is made with 100 plastics bottles per square meter,  also our Polar Dotbox insert is made of 100% recyclable Polypropylene.

Less CO² Polar Thermal cuts down on refrigerated vehicle use. It is an ideal substitute for last mile or longer journeys for temperature critical products thereby cutting down on CO2 emissions.
